Hard Times for Dos Hermanos
Front page of the Albuquerque Journal business section this morning brought some bad news: Dos Hermanos is closing!
As of Monday morning, at least three of the burrito joint’s four locations were dark and locked. Initial reports say the fourth, in the UNM Student Union Building, is still churning out our favorite bfast burritos, but that employees didn’t think it was going to last long.
The truth today is we don’t know exactly why Dos Hermanos shut its doors. It could have been personal reasons among the upper management, or quality concerns, or whatever.
But in our current economy, anytime a local joint we hold near and dear shuts down while a national chain thrives in its place, we should all stand up and take notice.
Pour one out for Dos Hermanos, and then go to the Burrito Lady and make sure she’s still kicking. Keep New Mexico asking “red or green?”
