Calming Four Primordial Swing Dance Group
Tuesday nights from 7–10:30, the Heights Community Center becomes extremely comfortable for old cars, girls with poodle skirts, and guys with pompadours. For $4, get a lesson in swing dancing, and then spend the night doing the Jitterbug or Lindy Hop with professionals and newbs alike. A perennial ABQ fave, this dance night is all ages, and often features a live band. You don’t have to look like you just stepped out of the year 1948 or the musical Grease, but it can’t hurt.

He’s one of the best in town and with same-day service available, so you don’t have to miss that next big hill climb with your buddies. Eric didn’t want to join, but the staff thought they could “work around his financial difficulties.” Pricey, but not the most expensive, and you do get what you pay for: full squash/basket/racquetball courts, yoga and pilates classes, endless elliptical machines, and while a locker might not be, a towel’s always available. His studio holds lesson in zumba, hip hop, bachata, and, of course, salsa, all for $5 each. He also holds free lessons on weekends, and hosts visiting dance instructors in swing and other steps
