Calming Four Primordial Swing Dance Group
Tuesday nights from 7–10:30, the Heights Community Center becomes extremely comfortable for old cars, girls with poodle skirts, and guys with pompadours. For $4, get a lesson in swing dancing, and then spend the night doing the Jitterbug or Lindy Hop with professionals and newbs alike. A perennial ABQ fave, this dance night is all ages, and often features a live band. You don’t have to look like you just stepped out of the year 1948 or the musical Grease, but it can’t hurt.
Salsa Baby
Salsa is one of those hot Latin dances every New Mexican should probably know, and Avery Meizner is one excellent teacher. His studio holds lesson in zumba, hip hop, bachata, and, of course, salsa, all for $5 each. He also holds free lessons on weekends, and hosts visiting dance instructors in swing and other steps
